Final Thoughts...

Now that the Biggest Loser Million Pound Match Up challenge is coming to a close, I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us and shared their own journeys with us.

The Biggest Loser TV show and challenge have been incredibly motivating for us and we're not stopping now.  Both Bruce and I are committed to becoming the healthiest "us" that we can be.

Thanks again for all your support and we wish all of you continued success.

See you "lighter", later.  And, remember, Nothing Tastes As Good as Being Thin Feels.

Cheers,

Sharon & Bruce

Why We Want To Win The Biggest Loser Million Pound Match Up Challenge

FullBodyShots

Many people in this competition say they want to win because they want to be healthy and live long for their kids' sakes. Bruce and I don't have any children. We only have each other. And, we want to get healthy and live long for each other. We are not only husband and wife, but also best friends. I think we'd each be lost without the other.

We both lost our fathers at young ages and fear that if we don't do something drastic to get into a healthy lifestyle, we won't live long enough to cash in our 401K.

I have high hopes that having a personal trainer will lead us down the path to longevity. I can even envision becoming a personal trainer myself some day. Wouldn't that be a cool career change -- earn a living and actually make a difference in the lives of others.

Our plan to win is to follow the Weight Watchers points food plan, exercise in our home gym (weights, treadmill and stationary bike), and keep each other motivated by keeping our long-term goal of health and longevity in mind.

This is our "before" photo.  In our "after" picture, we hope to look like Bob and Jillian!

And the doctor says...

A trip to the doctor's office today showed that I am a fairly healthy person:  Blood Pressure = 120/80 and Total Cholesterol = 150.  I think eating oatmeal for breakfast has really paid off.  But, I still have to lose weight to become truly healthy.

Bruce, even after losing 22 pounds, still needs to get his blood pressure and cholesterol down.

We both had a carotid ultrasound, abdominal aortic ultrasound, ankle brachial index test and EKG.  Everything came back normal.

Overall, it's a big relief to know that I'm not at risk for a stroke anytime soon... not sure why, but I've been worried about that lately.

I guess I need to beef up my 401K contributions because it look like I might live to retirement age after all!

Now it's "crunch" time

Bruce has lost 22 pounds since our journey to health began.  I've lost 10.  Yes, I'm a bit jealous of his success, but I'm also very happy for him and also the fact that I'm going down in size, rather than up.

Over the next 30 days, I'm planning on giving it my all-out!  I know that Spring is right around the corner, soon followed by summertime and I want to be in good enough shape to feel comfortable in shorts and a bathing suit.

So, this post will be short because the treadmill is calling me.

Hope everyone in this challenge is feeling as motivated as I am right now.

Cheers,

Sharon

Cabin Fever

It's that time of the year when people of Northern Indiana (especially me) are getting so sick and tired of being stuck indoors because it's way too cold to be outdoors.

Last spring I had this idea to turn off the TV and get outdoors and enjoy the fact that winter was over.  I think it was about the time that American Idol was wrapping up season six.  I had a fabulous spring and summer and it wasn't until the weather started to turn cold again that I started gaining weight.

So, here I sit, watching TV, eating M&Ms wondering when will I be motivated to turn off that darned TV and get back in action, take off the pounds and get over the fact that the sun hasn't been seen since November.  Maybe after the 24-hour Jackass Marathon, I'll be so disgusted with TV that I'll leave it behind, put on my coat, hat and gloves and get outside and start moving my atrophied muscles.

Sharon I just wanted to stop by again and say thanks so much!  I really appreciate your comments on my page.  We can totally relate to the exercise equipment being buried in the basement.  We are stilling trying to uncover ours but were making progress.  I love your comments about the walk away the pound videos.  I forgot I had them I'll have to go and dig them out.  I love the idea of doing it on the treadmill.  So I'll have to give that a try.  Best of luck to you guys!

Good luck Sharon(Bruce too!)! I have seen the results of your "will-power" first-hand and you always amaze me!
Just an FYI, I buy my bone-less skinless chicken breasts from Gordon's...you get about 16 breasts for $10-12, depending on sales. ($10/sale)
Sure beats Martin's $8.99 for 6 pieces! Now, back to work! hehehe!

Thanks for the comment.  Yes I'm following Weight Watchers.  I started last year after I had my son and lost all the baby weight and some more. Then the scale started going back up for some strange reason (was on plan but hungrier than usual) and I  found out I was pregnant again at the same darn weight I was at when I got pregnant with my first child.  Gained a little (only 7lbs and my son was 6lbs 10oz at birth), gave birth Nov 1, 2007 and started following WW again but didn't officialy resign up with their program until last week.  So I have my first "official" weigh in this week.

Sharon, I went from a size 8 to a 12 in 6 months as well, but we'll be back in our skinny jeans before we know it.  The trick then will be learning life-long maintenance!!!  Good luck to you and Bruce :)
